Capistrano's at Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach

The venue is unbelievably beautiful, however, the service does not match the price. The biggest complaint I have is the venue double booked our wedding site. The Presidential Lawn is $5400 to have your ceremony and we were advised no other weddings would take place on the lawn on our day, but possibly may be held elsewhere on the property. The day of my wedding, 20 feet away from my chairs, a second wedding was held one hour prior to my ceremony. The venue left the chairs and arch in place during my ceremony. We were taking pictures on the beach prior to the wedding and were asked to move so as not to be in the background of the other bride's wedding. Secondly, the reception hall had minimal air flow. My mother asked if they could turn up the air conditioning and the staff's response was to have the guests stop dancing because it makes the room hot. Booking rooms was unnecessarily difficult for guests as well. When my guests called the hotel, several were told there was no wedding that day and that the hotel booking code was wrong. The topper was three months prior to my wedding the hotel decided to make it a three night minimum at $247 a night. They never notified us of the change, rather we fielded a slew of complaints from frustrated guests. Rather than telling guests that there was a minimum, they told them the hotel was booked. The majority of my guests only wanted one night and we were forced to set up a room block at a neighboring hotel. The Embassy Suites used every opportunity to capitalize off our wedding. The only stressful part of the planning process stemmed directly from interactions with the hotel. Sadly, it is abundantly clear a bride is just another bride at Mandalay Beach.

Overall, we had a good experience. The hotel setting is beautiful. I really wish they had an option of an outdoor reception though because the setting is so beautiful and it got very hot inside for a summer wedding. The wedding reception rooms are very nice and spacious though. Overall good experience!

I grew up in California and so I always wanted to renew my vows there and I have to say that I had the wedding of my dreams at Mandalay Beach and the reception of my dreams at Capistrano's at the Mandalay Beach Embassy Suites Hotel and Resort. I needed a venue that would accomodate my hawaiian theme but letting me have a wedding on the beach, fire dancing indoors and to have it all in one place to avoid any transportation hassles due to that fact that most of the wedding party and guests were traveling from other parts of Southern California. Although some would say it is pricey, the value is great for what you pay for. I booked the diamond package which included food, cake, flowers and lightning so you get more than what other hotel packages offer. I also asked for the luau menu to go with my hawaiian theme and the catering manager was more than happy to oblige me and even included the deserts that went with that menu along with the cake as a pleasant surprise. I searched for over two years for a venue and ironically this was the first one that I looked that. I didn't think I could afford it but with the way capistrano's accomodated my wishes, I got more than what I bargained for. I was able to get a $10 discount for having it on a Sunday which afforded me my upgrades for linens, chairs and flowers that I envisioned. Capistranos did a great job in giving me leads for wonderful vendors, given that I planned all this site unseen other than arriving there 4 days before the wedding. Everyone was amazed at how much detail went into the event and having to plan it all from Kentucky. I credit capistranos who were always friendly and willing to listen to my ideas. Kelsey was a professional with great taste who helped in making the right choices in linens and she always so pleasant. The food was excellent for all the events which I also included the rehearsal dinner and send off brunch. Everyone complimented on how great the food was including how the wedding cake was the best some people tasted. Capistranos seems to believe in that the customer is always right and allowed me to have my vision and I will always remember that day. I recommend Capistranos to anyone who wants a beautiful, memorable and wonderful experience for their wedding celebration.

Really a beautiful venue. Staff are great and willing to work with you. At our night, the wine service was a little slow at the start, but was picked up after all the food was served.

I would highly recommend Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort. 80% of our guests were traveling so it was important to my husband and I that we could find a venue that was convenient and could provide lodging, a beautiful ceremony site, and reception ballroom all at one location. The catering staff at Capistrano's is amazing and very helpful. The food was good. The reception ballroom is beautiful. My husband and I were very impressed. Our special day was perfect. Everything was above and beyond our expectations.

Mandalay has an amazing view for a ceremony. The room was incredible! The food was delicious. The ceremony and reception were everything I dreamed a wedding could be and more. It was breath taking, memorable, and fantastic. Jodi and Capistrano's are so helpful with meeting your wants and needs. I am so glad I went with this venue :)

Overall it was great working with the staff. There seemed to not be good communication with the companies they work with. We had a mis communication issue with the linen vendor. He told we could have one linen and when we told capistranos they said no. Had to change linen colors last minute without getting to look at them. Thankfully it came out beautifull. Make sure that the alcohol you choose to have is what you get. Our guests mentioned halfway through the quality of liquor being served turned to the cheap stuff. Not waht we had paid for.

Truly enjoyable experience working with Jodi at Capistrano's ESMB. Her entire staff was very kind and attentive and the wedding turned out exactly as I had envisioned.

Jodi and the rest of the staff was wonderful to work with throughout the wedding planning process. The whole day was executed perfectly and I am more than happy with the way the wedding day turned out. One thing that was the best feature for me and the groom is that at the reception hall we had one staff member there just for us. Dinner was buffet and he brought us a plate so we didn't have to, made sure our glasses were always filled, and was very quick to bring us cake. I've heard many complaints from other brides and grooms about how they never had a chance to eat dinner or cake and that definitely was not the case for us! A very big added bonus!!

The Embassy Suites is amazing! It is pricey but it was so beautiful! I had a courtyard wedding because the presidential lawn was taken and twice the price. But the courtyard was gorgeous with waterfalls and stone pathway. Oh my gosh. It was the first place my husband and I visited while looking for venues and we already knew this was the place. They have fairly priced packages and work with excellent vendors. Our package included our cake for FREE! including the cake cutting. The staff was always friendly and the caterers and waiters were very professional during the entire reception. Will recommend!

Capistrano's had wonderful service! I couldn't have asked for more attentive servers. Anytime my coordinator needed something they would make sure it was done right away. The cost of the food was a little on the expensive side but everyone raved about how good it was so it was worth it!

I am so happy that we found Capistrano's at Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort for our reception venue. I had researched over 60 possible venues across Southern California and Capistrano's initially struck me with their value: their beach-side location and upscale amenities are comparable to the most luxurious resorts in Malibu and Santa Barbara but available for a more reasonable price. Our first visit to the resort confirmed that it was the perfect location for our wedding reception. Jodi Wagner, Director of Catering, was fantastically helpful and took her time to show us around the facilities and answer all our questions. Throughout the process of planning I was constantly amazed by her patience and flexibility in accommodating our last minute requests for changes. Although exceptional, she was not the exception and all the catering staff were extremely professional, friendly, and seemed genuinely enthusiastic about our wedding. The reception was beautiful and we received countless compliments from guests about the quality of each detail. Most important to me as a stressed-out bride was the fact that Jodi and the Capistrano's staff made the event smooth and worry free. After an intense and emotional day of rushing around it was an indescribably relief to be able to relax with our friends and family and actually enjoy our beautiful reception. My only regret is that we didn't get to the party in time to enjoy any of the delicious-looking hors d'ouevres but we were assured by guests that they - like all the food served - were excellent.I highly recommend Capistrano's at Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach to anyone planning a wedding or other event.
